Community Update From September 14, 2020 Newsletter

As you may already know, Georgetown County School District plans to transition to a hybrid learning model on September 21, 2020.  Our best thinking in July 2020 corresponded to our plan for virtual learning during the 1st 9-weeks of school.  In an effort to clarify any confusion surrounding a return to school, we are sharing and summarizing information regarding our approach.

The CMCS Re-Entry Plan was approved by the Board on July 27, 2020, and the presentation was shared via a narrated podcast with families on July 28, 2020.  A stated goal within our plan was to implement a re-opening that was in the best interests of the health, safety, and welfare of our students, staff, and families, while simultaneously implementing an effective, Montessori program that meets the diverse needs of our students.

We acknowledged the ever-changing nature of information and guidelines surrounding the pandemic.  Additionally, we stated that when plans are communicated to our stakeholders, the information will represent our best thinking at the time of the correspondence.  Based upon the evolving nature of data and how conditions may change throughout our region, we expressed that plans will need to remain flexible.

As we communicated in July, DHEC data will be monitored throughout the 1st 9-weeks of school.  As of the date of this correspondence, CMCS is still utilizing our virtual learning model.  However, if disease data significantly improves in our region over multiple data points, then we have the ability to revisit our initial approach.  As always, when plans are communicated to our stakeholders, the information will represent our best thinking at the time of the correspondence.

We appreciate your continued support of CMCS.  Thank you.
