This week we have a short week due to the Thanksgiving holiday, but it will be one full of lots of learning and fun! We will be doing a math activity about how to budget and plan for a large family meal using grocery store catalogs. We will continue with our lessons on various parts of speech in language. Your children worked incredibly hard on their Science and History assignments this past week, Ms. Nan and I saw some beautiful projects and essays being turned in. The students should feel very proud of themselves, we certainly are proud of them!
We will be preparing our dish for our CMCS Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday. Our class is responsible for making a fruit salad. The fruits that we voted on are as follows:
Please ask your child what they signed up for donating and please bring in these items Monday or Tuesday so that we have enough time to rinse and cut them up before our feast. If one or two students could please bring in a large serving dish (can be a big aluminum serving pan) that would be wonderful! I will bring in what I have at home as a back up! You can send a lunch for your child if you chose, but there will be plenty to eat!
After Thanksgiving break, we will be hosting our MMUN Poster Session on Friday, December 1st at 8:15 a.m. Your child will be sharing what they have learned about their MMUN country. We invite any family member who would like to see the presentations to come. On the same day, we will be holding the International Food Fair at 11:30 a.m. Each student will prepare a dish from their country to share with all of Upper Elementary. The servings will be sample size, so there is no need prepare for more than 20 people. I must have a copy of your child’s recipe by Monday, November 27th in order to let the families of children with allergies or other health issues know what is being served. Your child may wear formal free dress on this day for presentations or their uniform.
