It’s hard to believe we are already in April! Our week has been jam-packed with Timeline of Life research projects, special guest speakers/presentations and fun, new activities.
Our in-class research has encouraged many students to continue research on a personal topic at home, leading to some great homework presentations. We had a visit from Mr. Weaver, our school’s beekeeper, and welcomed our hive. We even enjoyed a visit from the McGrew family’s baby chicks! We continued with our study of botany and enjoyed a whole group, arts integrated lesson that combined a multitude of curricular areas – visual art, weather, mixtures/solutions, poetry, and figurative language. Ask your scholar about the “In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb” lesson!
Looking ahead to next week…
1sts: author’s purpose, time to the half hour, botany studies, small bead frame
2nds: word problems, possessive apostrophe, multiplication, natural resources
It’s a good idea to make or invest in some multiplication flash cards. Use in the car, while you make dinner, anytime! Check out this book for a great explanation of possessive apostrophes!
3rds: volume, grammar, angles, text dependent analysis
Estimate, then test volume with a variety of containers at home. Make a bar graph with your findings.
No school on Friday, the 14th! Have a great Spring Break!
