This week at CMCS, Ms. Antoinette shared some of her old-Italian family traditions. The students began the week with making aprons. To cook in the Italian kitchen, a colorful apron is a must! For the following few days, kids participated in making some staples for any Italian diner table.
Students made homemade spaghetti from scratch! Three simple ingredients; flour, eggs, and a bit of olive oil, a little elbow grease…and presto! Spaghetti!
Next the students learned the process to make fresh ricotta cheese. Again, three simple ingredients; milk, vinegar, and salt, some time to drain off the whey, and there you have it! Ricotta!
And to wrap up the week, the students made a traditional cannoli cream using our homemade ricotta cheese to take home and share with their family!
Ciao! and Bella Giornata!
