The CMCS TOPPING OFF CEREMONY was held on Friday, April 8, 2016, and drew a crowd of more than 200 people!
Instead of a groundbreaking ceremony at the start of construction of our new building, scheduled to open during the 2016-2017 school year, we chose to celebrate the completion of the structural construction phase. In true Montessori fashion, we incorporated the ancient Scandinavian tradition of raising a tree to the structure’s top to pay tribute to Mother Earth and her contributions to the project.
Students opened the celebration with a beautiful rendition of the song “Hall of Fame” by The Script, then school and district leaders along with other dignitaries addressed the more than 200 adults and children who attended the event. Guests enjoyed tours of the building, signed a huge piece of plywood that will eventually be built into the school, and watched as a tree was raised to the top of the building.
Many thanks to everyone who attended and supported the CMCS Topping Off Ceremony!
