Middle School and Invasion Games

Invasion Games

What are invasion games? These are the games that the middle school students have become almost professional at. These games are when teams score when they move an implement into the opposing team’s zone and successfully attack that team’s goal or target area. Tactical problems related to invasion games include maintaining possession, attacking and/or defending a goal, winning the ball, etc. Examples of invasion games include soccer, flag football, ultimate frisbee, ultra ball and hockey. The middle school students have already successfully completed both their soccer and ultimate frisbee units and have been assessed using the South Carolina Physical Education Assessment Program (SCPEAP).

Are You Ready for some FLAG Football?

The middle school students will be moving into a flag football unit where they will be using the Sport Ed Model approach. Students will be on teams and each student will have a job for their team. This approach helps to build a sense of teamwork and also allows the students to be creative in the PE setting by creating team names, choosing a team color and also creating their very own team playbook.
