Making Our Own Sustainability Goals…

Our MMUN time last week was used to discuss Sustainable Development Goals.  Sustainable development has been defined as” development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” We discussed these goals and  watched a couple short videos as a whole group first. Next, the students broke off into groups of three and went around to different stations and read together and took notes. Last, the students were given aa sheet a paper to write down a few goals that they could set for themselves. These were meant to be attainable goals that they could achieve at home or school. Once the goals were written down, the students folded their papers into airplanes. We then took the students outside where they launched their airplanes into the air while yelling out one of their personal goals. They sent their goals out into the universe! Below is a link if you’d like to read more about Sustainable Development Goals.

We were lucky enough to have two community snacks this past week. On Thursday, Illy and Sarah made us some wonderful chocolate covered strawberries. They were incredible! On Friday, Lydia and Luke baked us some delicious cheese biscuits. All four students did a fantastic job with both preparing and clean-up. We are so fortunate to have our own little kitchen right inside our classroom!
