Last days of December…

We had our first In-Class Lunch this past Wednesday. It was great! We decided on Chicken Noodle Soup, homemade baked bread, fruit, and freshly made whipped butter.   The kids had plenty of food to eat and enjoyed their practice with the preparation and clean up of our meal. Next Wednesday, if our mini convention toaster/oven comes in, we hope to do some baking!   (Thank you to Ms. Jackie for getting our room the convection toaster/oven!). We’ll decide on what lunch will be on Monday.  Please remember that we’re asking for $2 to help get the groceries for the In-Class Lunch.

Also Wednesday, an old friend to Montessori, Mr. Bill McNulty, a local computer guru, came and spoke to the students about how computers have changed over the years and spent about an hour and a half fielding questions from the students! There were lots of questions about “hacking” computers and viruses.  Bill addressed their questions and emphasized how important it is to be safe while online.  He also explained how viruses can “tag along” to Apps, especially on Apple Machines, that have been downloaded from the Internet and can destroy a computer! I think we’re all a little more cautious now before downloading anything from the Internet.

Secret Santa has been so much fun this year! As you may have noticed, I’ve been giving the students note card paper to help remind them to write a special message to their person. Remember, only small treats or items for Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday is the big reveal! On that day your child will present their person a wrapped, small gift, no more than $5. The students seem to be as excited to give their friends a secret treat as they are to receive something!

Next Wednesday, we are doing a “Cookie Exchange” with the other Lower Elementary classes. Each class will have two cookies to share. We plan on making Dark Chocolate-Candy Cane Peppermint Bark and Chocolate Pretzel Treats.  Thank you to those of you who signed up to donate ingredients.   Please lease email me if you’d like to spend some time with us either Monday or Tuesday morning to help with the baking.

Next Wednesday is also MMUN $1 dress day.

The Nutcracker Ballet field trip is this Thursday.  In the spirit of the holiday and attending a ballet, children are asked to be in polished free dress. Please remember to send in a bagged lunch this day.

The following are a few pictures from our week.  Many are taken by students.  Enjoy!

The 3rd years are revisiting verb tenses...I'm looking forward to the quiet days of January. Getting lessons in during the month of December is a challenge!!

We found the perfect way to display our stockings in our new room. They look beautiful! You can see them as you drive up in carpool. Third years will take their home this week. (A sad time for me!) . I'll pack up the stockings belonging to the 2nds and 1sts years until next year!

Have a great afternoon!
