January 15 News

Hello families,

Well, our first week back to school after break, though short, was a great start. On Friday, we held our 1st annual all school Spelling Bee. Grant Redwine did a great job representing our class and all of 5th grade! The over all winner was 7th grader
Jahzlyn Smith and she will go on to the regional spelling bee this Spring. The Spelling Bee gave a great opportunity for students to showcase their spelling abilities and
also to bring our whole school together. It was wonderful to watch the entire CMCS community come together and support these students who worked very, very hard in preparation for the Spelling Bee.
In Science we will be studying the building blocks of life, the animal and plant cell.  We will create our own cell slides as well as look at prepared slides of different things.  Then we will start A unit on energy.
I have attached the order form for this year’s MMUN official T-shirt. Not only will purchasing one of these shirts help raise the remaining funds needed for the New York City trip, your child can also wear this as an option for Friday instead of their tie-dye shirt. Feel free to share this order form with family members or anyone else who might be intrested in purchasing a shirt. Reminder, all 6th year students must purchase a

t-shirt for the trip.
All t-shirt orders must be in by January 22nd.
This coming week is short as well with no school today and a 1/2 day on Friday. Reminder dismissal will be at 11:25 a.m

. Also, this Wednesday is MMUN Dollar Dress day. Your child can wear free dress if they pay $1.
I will be creating A Sign Up Genius page for parents interested in A winter conference.  If I feel A conference is necessary, I will email the link to you.  If you would like A conference, just request the link from me and I will send it right out.
Have a wonderful week!
