History is Subjective

One of the many joys of working with young children is constant laughter. As the years go by and another generation grows into schooling, the differences in our culture 30 years ago (even ten years ago) and our culture now, become more apparent. Yesterday, I did a lesson with the 2nd years on the History of Numbers. After the lesson, I included this as part of their “Have Tos.”

A student who was absent yesterday saw the work written on the board and got so excited. She said “Whoa! We get to learn about the history of hashtags?! This is AWESOME!” It led to a very fun teachable moment!

We also enjoyed a guest reader last week, Mr. Don Tempalsky, for the United Way Read Across America Day. Thank you Mr. Don!

Third years have focused on SC research and created 3D textured maps, indicating the characteristics of each of the SC geographical regions.
