Happy New Year!

Welcome back families! I hope you enjoyed the beautiful winter weather and the snow days that padded our winter break! It was beautiful, but we were ready to get back in the swing of things.

As we enter the second half of the year, it is more important than ever to bulk up our skill practice. Very few students are utilizing Xtra math and it is disappointing as I can tell it is affecting fluency in many cases. At this point in the year, all students (even firsts) should be demonstrating automaticity in addition and subtraction. If you don’t like Xtra math specifically, please utilize another timed fluency source. Reflexmath.com is a great one, but there are MANY available through the App Store on your smart devices. Third years need to be practicing their multiplication and corresponding division facts on a daily basis. And don’t forget to keep reading!
