Coastal Montessori Charter School will open its brand-new facility with the addition of middle school in the 2016-2017 school year (Open Enrollment is going on now!). The Montessori curriculum aligns with state standards and goes above and beyond them. It’s all about the way information is presented: not teachers telling, but children doing. The Montessori environment fosters self-directed learning and individualized instruction in multi-aged classrooms. CMCS is designed to prepare your child for the 21st century.
MIDDLE SCHOOL (7th and 8th grades*)
In Montessori middle school we see ambitious, project-based learning and entrepreneurial skills embedded in the curriculum. Math is integrated with physical, earth and life sciences while an in-depth exploration of literature is integrated in the language arts. Critical and creative writing are used within the history, geography and current events curriculum to create well-rounded learners.
Middle School Courses include:
- Algebra 1/Mathematics
- Biology 1/Applied Biology 2
- English 1
- U.S. History and the Constitution
