Binyah or Comya?

Ronald Daise, star of the children’s show “Gullah Gullah Island,” delighted us with the history of the Gullah culture at Brookgreen Gardens this week. The third years learned about songs, history, traditions and language. We are lucky to live in what is called The Gullah Gichi Corridor and were able to classify ourselves as either binyahs (people who were born here) or comyas (people who have moved here. Which are you?

We also finished our Gala auction item with the help of one of our very talented parents, Rebecca Porter, of Rebecca Porter Photography. If you liked our photo project entitled “SMILE” from last year, this year’s project “PEACE” will blow you away. The large print is on order and should be here just in time for the gala!
